Police chief injured in Halkidiki mine clashes

The chief of the Arnaia police precinct, in Halkidiki, northern Greece, was being treated at the general hospital of Polygyros, on Monday, after being injured during clashes between residents in the village of Palaiochori and employees at the nearby Skouries mine, earlier in the day.According to hospital doctors, chief Asterios Varkaris was expected to remain in hospital for treatment.Locals have ...
