Greek government shuts down state TV/radio

Thousands of protesters remained outside the main building of Greece's national broadcaster ERT late Tuesday night after the government announced a surprise decision to shut down the organisation and fire all its employees. The unprecedented move happened as Athens' economic adjustment programme was being reviewed by the Troika of international lenders - made up by the EU, the ECB and the IMF- in Athens and has elicited strong reaction from the two minor coalition partners.
