The swearing in of Antonis Samaras as prime minister and the huge challenges his government faces – from day one – preoccupied the press.



Much attention was paid to the fact that the new premier tapped a banker – National Bank of Greece governor Vasilis Rapanos – to be the new finance minister. It is the first indication of the new government’s relationship with the Greek banking system.
