News of the day from around the world, March 16

1 ROYAL INTRIGUE: Spain’s King Felipe VI has renounced any future personal inheritance he could receive from his father, King Emerit Juan Carlos I, over the alleged financial irregularities involving the former monarch. The royal house said Felipe is also stripping Juan Carlos of his annual stipend. In 2018, the former monarch received 194,232 euros ($216,000). The decision comes amid an ongoing investigation by Swiss prosecutors into an offshore account allegedly operated for Juan Carlos. The account allegedly received 88 million euros ($100 million) from Saudi Arabia’s late King Abdullah in 2008, which prosecutors believe could be kickback payments, according to the Swiss newspaper Tribune de Geneve. Felipe, 52, denied any knowledge of the fund. 2 TERROR ATTACK: French judges investigating the 2015 Islamic State attack that left 130 people dead in Paris have ordered charges against 20 people, including a Belgian accused of masterminding the attacks who was held for years in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq before being freed and returned home. Three of the group, including the alleged mastermind, Oussama Atar, are believed to have died in the group’s final months of fighting in Iraq and Syria. Also accused is the only survivor of the Paris cell, Salah Abdeslam, who was arrested near his home in Brussels after months on the run. Abdeslam’s brother, Brahim, blew himself up in Paris. Of the 20, 11 are jailed, three are under house arrest and six face international arrest warrants. All are charged with terrorism offenses. 3 REFUGEE CRISIS: Authorities in Greece say a juvenile died Monday in a fire that damaged an overcrowded refugee camp on the island of Lesbos. The Fire Service said the migrant, who was not further identified, was found dead inside Moria camp after...
